    Finals Week Study Jam

Are the libraries too crowded? Needing a quiet place in a comforting space during finals week? The Ethnic Resource Center provides study spaces and snacks during Finals Week! Bay Tree Conference Rooms are reserved for students to study beginning the first day of finals week every quarter. Hot meals, snacks, coffee and tea will be provided in the ERC Lounge during business hours. Students can take the advantage of this opportunity to unwind, eat and get right into studying.

We found it important for students to be given the resources needed to succeed so we encourage all members to eat and take care of themselves during this stressful time.

  • Open House

The Ethnic Resource Center Open House takes place at the beginning of each Fall quarter. This event kicks off the new academic year and gives students and the community the opportunity to meet staff & interns, enjoy student performances, eat good food and learn all about how to get connected and the programs/services offered by the ERC.

Hosted by the African American Resource & Cultural Center, American Indian Resource Center, Asian American/Pacific Islander Resource Center and El Centro. Call the ERC Reception Desk at 831-459-2427 or email ercadmin@ucsc.edu for more information/if you would like to perform during the event.

    The Big Break

Big Break 2016The Big Break takes place at the end of every Fall Quarter. Hosted by the UCSC Resource Centers, alongside Rachel Carson College and Oakes College, to hold space for self-care, healing, and celebrating community and diversity.

Students will be able to take a break from studying, de-stress and be with community during a difficult time. The Big Break celebrates community and diversity through arts and crafts, community building, dinner, and making gifts. It is important to take care of our bodies in order to sustain ourselves and each other. Staff and students from various campus units and support programs volunteer and help at crafts tables with the intention for students to connect with them and their peers in a safe informal setting. Additionally, communities that may be on a low budget at the end of the quarter can find and make gifts to take home for the holidays.

This annual event was originally hosted by the Educational Opportunity Programs and Success Strategies and Opportunities Collaborative, now the Student Success Division
